IT'S ALL ABOUT ME day 2

It's All About Me
Hosted by the many talented Madamme Samm over at Sew We Quilt

Today it's my turn to provide a "picture" of me via Amy Bradley.
The pattern title is I'm a Little Biased.  Amy's suggestion for fabric and cutting accentuate the bias alignment in fabric, typically a 45 degree digression from the selvage edge. It is more stretchy than the straight of grain or the cross grain and thus needs a little more care when trying to use it for straight pieces in a pattern.  One of the benefits to using bias is actually it's stretchiness, which is very helpful with curved seams be they pieced or appliqued.  Another obvious benefit is the ability to place stripes at a jaunty angle such as Amy does in her pattern.
I, however, being just a little off kilter myself chose to use a different "take" on the "biased" part of the pattern.   I have a somewhat biased view of most everything.  I've been told that I don't see the world as it really is. I prefer to think that I do see the reality of it all but choose to focus on the more pleasant aspects of this life and do my small part to make those whom I come in contact be aware of the positive that can be found in nearly everything.
So my rendition of "I'm a little BIASED"  wears rose tinted glasses to reflect Biased view.

Being in Hawaii right now, I knew I had to present a little Hawaii in my portrait. My outfit you will notice is sleeveless and from an Hawaiian print.
I chose to have a wind blown hair do representing the effect of a day at the beach on my coiffure.  I added a necklace and earrings to compliment the festive attire.
The machine I use while here doesn't have the buttonhole stitich option and is not exactly always easy to maneuver especially without the needle down option.
No matter how I tried (and I did several times) "my" smile always turned out looking like a smirk....so I decided to give "myself" some attitude as well.  I've kinda, sorta wanted a tattoo but could never quite figure out what it would be.  Now "I" have several  and maybe, just maybe,  this will end that ??? desire.  I think you can decipher what they are in the pictures below.

I had intended to applique by the needle turn method until I realized how difficult the hair do I chose would be and how much time I didn't have.  I found some fusible web in my one small stash container and was lucky that there was enough and that it was still viable.

This was such fun and the challenge of using what was available in my limited stash away from home stirred my creative juices even more.

If you haven't read my last post I'd like to share the view behind my make shift design wall!
ENJOY!

  21. Oh my goodness... Your Hawaiian lady is just too cute! Her sleeveless attire is funny... and all those tattoos!! I will never forget the day I found out that my daughter had a Tigger on her back hip... caught her red handed reaching up in her closet to get something and her shirt was yanked up... She didnt know I was in the hall... I scared her and she jumped out of her skin when I bellowed out "Just when did you get a tattoo?"... She jerked around and her eyes were big as a basketball... She just knew that she was in deep doo-doo.

All I said after that was "Well, when you are 90, so will Tigger be... all wrinkled up"... I smiled and walked off. lol

That did'nt help her resolve to not get another... Now her body is fast being covered with them. it is not my taste at all but to each his own. :)

Good job with your island lady! She's fantastic. :)
